Celebrity Doppelgangers You Can’t Tell Apart
Have you ever seen someone’s name in the credits of a film or a show and wondered how come you missed this person on the screen? You were probably a victim of the celebrity doppelganger phenomenon. Yes, there are celebrities who look incredibly like one another and not just to the people on the internet. Even Hollywood decision-makers notice such things, leading to several instances where an actress or an actor was invited to play a doppelganger of their twin colleague in a project. Here we give you examples of such extreme celebrity look-alikes.
Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard
If not for The Help, where Jessica and Bryce starred together, we would probably still think this is a Clark Kent/Superman type of situation. Even Ron Howard, the famous director and Bryce’s dad, once thought he saw his daughter when, in fact, it was Jessica. This struggle was best summed up by Bryce herself, in a song titled Jessica Chastain: The Musical: “I am NOT Jessica Chastain, I’m the one from Lady in the Water, For Christ’s sake I am Ron Howard’s daughter, so behold this sad refrain.”
Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley
This one is not just in the heads of us fans since Keira actually played a decoy double of Natalie’s character in Star Wars Episode I. From then on, both actresses went to build strong careers. Natalie Portman won an Oscar for The Black Swan, and Keira Knightley has two nominations, including for Pride and Prejudice. Speaking to James Corden, the British actress once said that while being mistaken for Natalie does not surprise her, someone once thought that she was Britney Spears. Incredible.
Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe
Both actors will be remembered for starring in two great franchises – The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, after which Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe went to build strong independent film careers. Yet, the internet will never let them forget how similar they are. And even though both of them have their share of anecdotes, Daniel believes this has been worse on Elijah: “It’s much more disturbing for him, because I was being recognized as him when he was, I presume, in his early twenties. He was being recognized as me when I was 13.”
Javier Bardem and Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the American actor known for Grey’s Anatomy and The Walking Dead. Javier Bardem is the Spanish Oscar winner most famous for No Country for Old Men and Vicky, Christina, Barcelona. Seems easy, right? Until you see them side by side. They are so identical that photographers on the red carpet once confused Morgan for Bardem, and, jokingly, the actor flipped them a finger. Well, the journalist thought that that was the Spanish star, and they were not happy about it the next day.
Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel
The pair’s physical similarity is uncanny. Deschanel, who is most famous for her sitcom New Girl, has previously said: “It’s a little bit annoying, to be totally blunt. The only similarity that we have is that we look a little bit alike.” Yet, they do also share a love for music. While Katy Perry is one of the most successful pop artists, Zooey Deschanel is a part of a less know music duo, She&Him, where she sings, plays the piano, and the ukulele.
Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Cera
When Jesse Eisenberg needed a doppelganger for a scene in Zombieland 2, the director’s first choice for the role was Michael Cera. Sadly, the actor turned it down for unknown reasons, but it would have been a great nod to the fact that Cera and Eisenberg are always being mistaken for one another, something that the actors acknowledged multiple times. Who knows, maybe the stars of Arrested Development and The Social Netw, will get another chance to appear together on the screen, perhaps as brothers (or cousins, at least)?
Jennifer Connelly and Demi Moore
The hair, the eyes – Jennifer Connelly and Demi Moore incredibly resemble one another, even though there is almost a ten-year difference between them. Jennifer got her big break in Once Upon a Time in America and an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind. On the other hand, Demi Moore starred in the classics Ghost and A Few Good Men, but will also be remembered for her two very high profile marriages. Nowadays, while both actresses are active in Hollywood and appear on film and television, they are keeping a low profile.
Evan Rachel Wood and Rachel Brosnahan
These two young actresses have made big names for themselves on television, starring in successful shows and collecting nominations and awards each season. Rachel Brosnahan stars in Hulu’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, while Evan Rachel Wood leads the HBO’s Westworld as the android Dolores Abernathy. And we may think differently, but they want you to know that they are not the same person. In 2018, Wood posted a photo on Instagram of the two, saying: PROOF! @rachelbrosnahan and I were in the same room and are not actually the same person. Ps. She’s awesome.
Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson
Many things connect these two acting royalties, and similar features are one of them. Ralph and Liam first became close while starring in Schindler’s List and went on to become good friends. Afterward, they both appeared in The Clash of the Titans, as Zeus and Hades. While you would think that it would be easy to remember who is who, especially after Liam’s action franchise Taken, they often get mistaken for one another and sign each other’s names, as to not disappoint the fans.
Chelsea Handler and Elizabeth Banks
The star of The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect loves being mistaken for the famous comedian. Elizabeth Banks says that when people believe they are meeting Handler she usually goes with it, since it helps her feel more anonymous. When Banks came to Handler’s talk show Chalsey Lately, the actress told a story from the White House correspondence dinner. Bill O’Reilly was speaking to her and in an effort to get away from him, Elizabeth said: “I think you’re confusing me with Elizabeth Banks”.
